Making Grid Themes (for Tumblr)
We get alot of questions about turning single column themes into multi-column themes and it sounds simple but creating grid themes can be a nightmare, not just for newbies but even the experienced theme makers. So basically, if you don’t understand how themes are made, you should not be trying to doing this. It’s not (as someone previously thought) as easy as adding some HTML tabling. The first thing you need to decide is which plugin/script you’re going to be using and these are some of the choices:

    • Isotope
This one is more complex and I would actually suggest not using it for tumblr but maybe more complex websites, its just a good one to know as it has the filter function.

    • Freetile
This one is relatively new and I’ve personally tried as an alternative to masonry - the effects and usage is fairly similar although I have yet to try it with infinite scroll.

tumblr base code

ettudis:

A VERY VERY VERY simple tumblr base code. You can use CSS and HTML to build around it. If you don’t even know where to go with this base code… then you should start by learning the relationship between CSS and HTML.

CODE BY USEYOUREYES.

And I can never emphasize this enough, DON’T TAKE ALREADY MADE THEMES AS YOUR BASE CODE. YOU THINK WE (THEME-MAKERS) CAN’T TELL? HELL YEAH WE CAN.

Tutorial 01 - Transitions - Advanced

This is my first tutorial and I probably won’t do very many because I don’t think I explain myself all that well.

This first tutorial is about transitions. Since, I use them a lot in my themes, I thought I’d impart what I know on to people who may want to learn.

This is an advanced tutorial which just means that you should know your way around CSS and HTML to make sense what to do, where to put it, and how to make it your own.

There’s a lot you can do with transitions and I do mean A LOT, so this tutorial doesn’t really go into simple transitions like making text that was green turn blue - but kind of the more complex stuff like making blocks slide out to the right. (I promise it makes more sense with the examples!)

I hope you guys enjoy this first tutorial and that it hopefully helps you!

Next tutorial: Random Sidebar Image Script (because I get a lot of questions about it).

how would you take out the title?

go into the coding, and towards the bottom (underneath {CustomCSS}</style></head><body>) delete this coding:

<div id=”title”>{Title}</br></div>

Heya, I'm using your 2nd theme, and I haven't changed anything but my icon isn't showing :( I was wondering if you could help me with that? Thanks a lot for this and it is amazing x

Try clearing then uploading the sidebar image again, and make sure that it’s a proper file and it should work fine.
